Showy Antique Handled Brass & Wood Screw Arm Plow Plane Woodworking Tool
The wooden plow plane is truly the workhorse joinery hand plane of the hand tool hybrid shop. It is used to prepare drawer sides to receive bottoms and to cut panel grooves in doors and chest frames. Between 1800 and 1840 many elaborate new screw-arm plows were being developed by inventors, in a frantic race hoping to find an ideal system of alignment of fence and body.
This one is fresh out of a carpenters workshop this week….an unmarked handled brass & wood screw arm plow plane.
